About Jamie

If you would have told me 10 years ago I would be a birth worker, I would have rolled my eyes at you! Back then, I knew very little about the body and how God created it so beautifully. It wasn’t until a traumatic cesarean birth & being diagnosed with an autoimmune disease that I decided to delve into the world of health. What I learned was that our bodies are made to do amazing things, including healing from trauma, disease and most importantly, birth little miracles.

In 2015 I had the amazing blessing of a healing vbac brought about by my own education, informed consent and an amazing doula. Support in the birth room made all the difference and it peaked my interest into the world of birth work. It wasn’t until the birth of my third baby that I realized how important doulas are for birthing women. Informed consent and evidence based practice is lacking and mamas and their growing families are paying the price.

In 2018 I decided to train with Birth Arts International to become a Certified Birth Doula. I chose this organization because of their emphasis on equality and birth rights for all, especially those of socioeconomic, racial and cultural minorities. Since training, I have dove into supporting women in both hospital and home birth settings. I have had the privilege to work with families in helping to educate them on how their bodies work, what their birthing rights are, & teaching them how to advocate for themselves.

I believe we are never done learning and so you will always find me reading something new or enrolled in a new course. Currently I am a Certified Placenta Encapsulation Specialist & Peer Lactation Counselor through Herbal Birthkeeping, as well as a certified VBAC Doula through The VBAC Link . In 2021 I became certified as a childbirth educator with Gentle Birth and have begun offering in person and digital classes for families looking for childbirth education. My latest & perhaps most exciting adventure is training to become a Clinical Master Herbalist through Heart of Herbs herbal school. This ultimately marries my love of plants, natural healing and teaching families. In 2023, Birth Way Herbs officially launched offering pregnancy & breastfeeding safe teas for mamas & their families.

My hope is that mamas entering into and leaving my care realize they were given the best resources and care possible.
